MG, the Chinese automaker, has introduced its latest electric vehicle, the Comet, in India. The car is expected to hit the Indian market later this month, along with its pricing announcement. It will be the second electric car from MG in India, after the ZS EV. The Comet EV is essentially a rebadged version of the Wuling Air EV, which is a sister brand of MG.
The car has a compact, boxy design with a two-door layout that can accommodate up to four passengers. The Comet EV comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel with controls mounted on either side, LED headlights and tail lights, and connected tech. The car is expected to be equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 230 km on a single full charge and a single permanent magnet synchronous motor with about 42 PS of max power and 110 Nm of peak torque.
The MG Comet EV is projected to cost around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in competition with the Tata Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Citroen eC3. It will come in five colours, including two dual-tone models.
