PLI 2.0 for white goods: 15 companies including Adani Copper Tubes and LG have been selected

The government has selected Adani, LG, Wipro and 12 other companies to receive funding from the second round of PLI (Production Linked Incentives) that is meant to support India's white goods sector. The program will provide these companies with Rs 1000 crore in funding over the next two years. For this round in particular, 6 AC components manufacturers and 9 LED lights manufacturers have been chosen to receive aid as they will be given funding as part of the second phase of this important program. These are companies who have made commitments to the government in terms of how many dollars they will be putting toward improving the economy by producing new jobs in order to stay up to date with laws regarding energy consumption (both ACs as well as lights). They are worth $25.6 billion over five years and will generate additional employment for a total of 40,000 people!
