The deadline for submission of applications under the Rs 6,322-crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for speciality steel is extended by a month till June 30 after modifications were done upon the recommendation of influential manufacturers and traders. Accordingly, the application window will be kept open upto 30th June 2022. A few changes have been made in the structure of incentives like subcategories, taxation and safer infrastructure requirements. These factors meant that there was no way forward other than postponing the earlier deadline. This will help promote productivity without being unfair upon genuine companies throughout India.
